Dr Anastasia Brown, MD

She is board certified in Family Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Favorite Service and Product: My favorite service has to be Botox because not only does it make patients look younger and "fresher" by reducing muscle movement , but it has many other functions such as skin tightening, pore reduction, reduction of excess sweating, chronic headaches and muscle spasms. My favorite product is anything with retinol. This one ingredient clears acne, improves skin tone, and fights aging by increasing levels of collagen and elastin.

About me: I am originally from Wytheville, VA but have lived in the Tri-Cities since 2005. I have two lovely daughters and a son who keep me busy when I am not working!

Hobbies: I try to live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy running, biking, hiking, and weight lifting. I love to travel with my family and have recently started dabbling in some DIY home improvement projects. I also enjoy reading for pleasure as well as for keeping up to date on the latest medical advances to be the best physician I can be.

Something you may not know about me: I don't have a high school diploma! I never graduated from high school. I was homeschooled and started attending classes at the local community college when I was 14. Instead of a high school diploma, I graduated summa cum laude with an Associates Degree in Science from Wytheville Community College when I was 16.

Favorite Service and Product: My favorite service is the Diamond Glow with Dermaplane. After removing the facial "peach fuzz" and light exfoliating with the dermaplane, the Diamond Glow will exfoliate, extract and infuse medication that is based on your needs. This service is sure to leave you skin clean and glowing.  My favorite product is  SkinMedica HA5. I do not use a daily moisturizer, instead I use a rejuvenating hydrator and thats exactly what this serum does. It stimulates my body's ability to retain its own moisture while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, it also makes my skin feel taught and soft which I love.

Hobbies: I am passionate about fitness and bodybuilding. In my spare time, you may find me at the gym. I also love traveling, finding a tropical location is my favorite.

Something you may not know about me: I was Festus for the Kingsport Fun Fest for the past 4 years up until this year

How did you end up at The Science of Beauty: I applied on indeed then met with Amanda.

Heather Wilhelm, Permanent Makeup Artist

Beauty Mark Permanent Makeup Studio Owner, Permanent Makeup Artist

After spending nearly 15 years as a medical laboratory technologist for Holston Medical Group, Heather boldly made the decision to leave her career in healthcare and devote herself entirely to her artistic passion in 2018. She spent that year in a tattoo apprenticeship full-time to become a licensed permanent makeup artist. Due to her own natural artistic ability, eye for detail, hard work and dedication, Heather quickly caught the attention of what would become a large and loyal clientele. In 2019, Heather's commitment to knowledge led her to Las Vegas to advance her study under world-renowned permanent makeup artists at Girlz Ink. She spent the next 3 years earning the respect and referrals of plastic surgeons, estheticians, hairstylists, makeup artists, as well as others in the health and beauty industry and of course, her much appreciated clients. In 2021, professional growth limitations led Heather to further branch out on her own. She gained the title owner/artist when she opened The BeautyMark Permanent Makeup Studio in July. Her dream of giving clients the very best experience in permanent makeup, spreading confidence and most importantly teaching the value of self care was made a reality by a wonderful collaboration with Amanda Jackson's The Science of Beauty.

Heather believes yearly continuing education requirements should be mandatory for all permanent makeup artists. Due to COVID traveling restrictions, she currently continues her training through the Girls Ink online academy.  The Beauty Mark Permanent Makeup Studio, located within the The Science of Beauty Medical Spa, proudly upholds the highest standards in the industry.

Favorite Service and Product: Permanent Lashliner is easily Heather's favorite and one of her most popular PMU services, because it works for literally everyone. She believes every single lash line can be improved by tattooing that area darker...eyes are more defined, lashes look fuller and our most beautiful feature is enhanced. That's why it is no surprise that Heather's "cant-live-without" product at the Science of Beauty is Latisse. Latisse is a FDA-approved prescription medication to grow the eyelashes longer, fuller and darker. She also recommends consistent use of a neuromodulator of choice to keep eyes looking fresh and well-rested. "Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes." - Sophia Loren

Interesting fact and hobbies: My obsession with makeup started at a very young age when I was caught in front of my aunt's lighted makeup mirror applying Secret Solid Deodorant to my face...I wasn't too far off on shade matching lol. Over time, some say my colorful makeup "collection" could supply a small beauty counter. But, most current days, you will find me wearing only Colorescience Face Shield Glow Sunscreen and my own permanent makeup. Absolute musts for a busy entrepreneur who only breaks to run a few miles or play with my fur baby outdoors!

How did you end up at The Science of Beauty: I first met Amanda (then) Davis in the early 1980s...in elementary school. Over the years we would randomly share zip codes, schools, jobs and most recently the excitement of first time entrepreneurship. We are both insanely passionate about our fields of expertise and equally equipped with an unstoppable work ethic, a dream of building something bigger (and fate) brought us back together once again. Amanda was looking to possibly bring a PMU to her upcoming Med Spa and reached out to me on some advice about the industry. As fate would have it, I later found myself forced to make a choice of further growth myself...which led me to reach out to Amanda about joining her beautiful vision, and so the best in beauty collaboration began...
